LeBron and Co. are into the Finals!

Filed under: NBA: I Love this Game! — clayguitar @ 5:46 pm

King James and the Cavs are in the NBA Finals!

I know King James is awesome, but Cavs as a whole isn’t. Still a young team and requires a lot of work to become a franchise, and didn’t expect them to be in the Finals for another 2-3 years. Shows how little knowledge I have. I thought that the Pistons would win the series in game 7 when they dropped game 5 at home. How wrong was I. My bracket picks for this year went totally off, as you can see here.

Interesting how the Pistons is always the team that the uprising new star has to surpass. Like Jordan and the Bulls was blocked by the Pistons for so many years. It wasn’t until when Superman Jordan got help from sidekick Batman Pippen that finally brought them into the Finals. However, I don’t see Gibsons as that missing sidekick for King James. At least not yet.

As awesome as James were in game 5 against the Pistons, dropping 25 straight points to send the game into overtime and win. Or Gibsons stepping up in game 6. Either way, a one man dominant team will be hard to win over the Spurs. The Cavs will need something more to become the NBA Champions. I would have to say the Spurs in 6.

Thanks to LeBron, I’m going be watching the Finals this year.

Can someone tell me what that orange blob-like thing is on the branch?

The picture was taken in my backyard and I’ve had some trouble trying to figure out what on Earth that orange blob is. It seems like it is growing. At a micro pace, but it is growing. Seems to me it has some life, thereby, I’ve decided to give it a name. Was going name it gooey, but I realized someone already goes by the name gooey. To avoid the confusion and clash of names, I shall name that orange blob – “Tan-tan the myxomatosis”. You can call it “Tan-tan” for short, after tangerine.

I will try to keep you updated on Tan-tan on a weekly basis, if I remember.

The Cavs lost again in another close game. Unlike game 1 where LeBron dished out the ball a lot, this time in game 2 he attacked strong and scored much more. However, they still lost. I’m sure LeBron and Co. is pretty confused now as what they should do for game 3.

And I’m going to boycott Spurs game as a protest of them winning dirty.

Useless Bracket

Filed under: NBA: I Love this Game! — clayguitar @ 3:19 am

So my NBA bracket in my previous post is complete crap now. Other than Pistons advancing in 4 games, and most likely Cavs in 4 as well, the rest of my picks have a high chance to be completely wrong. For example, the Bulls took over the Heats in 4 games. And now the Warriors leading the Mavs 3-1 in the series. After watching the post game, I’m now starting to believe that the Warriors have a chance to take the series in 6 games instead of my original bet with Mavs in 5. I guess this is why NBA is so fun to watch. The outcomes can be surprising once in a while.

As for now, I’m really excited to see the outcome of the Mavs-Warrior series. Who knew a 1st seed vs. 8th seed can be this exciting. Unlike the Pistons-Magic match up, I didn’t even bother to watch a single game.

My new 2nd round predictions:

Pistons over Bulls in 6 games: Bulls might have the fire power, but the Pistons’ defense is still league’s best despite the lost of B. Wallace to the Bulls.

Month of Sports

It’s end of April. Usually around this time is when I’ve finished my final exams and start to bum in front of the TV. This year is slightly different. I just bum in front of the TV without needing to go through all the cramming and writing final exams.

Starting from March all the way ’til early June is probably the busiest season for sports. There is the NCAA Basketball, also known as the March Madness, the NBA Playoffs and Finals, the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and MLB. Of course there are other sports events such as PGA tours and tennis opens, but I hardly keep track of them unless they happen to be on TV and there’s really nothing else to watch.

This year so far has been pretty exciting in both NBA and NHL Playoffs. First of all, Vancouver Canucks is finally making a run towards the Stanley Cup after so many years. All the bandwagoners start to appear. Right now, Vancouver made it to the second round after an awesome game 7 win against the Dallas Stars. Hopefully, we’d get to roast the Ducks in the second round. But I’m a bit scared, so not going get my hopes up high.

As for NBA Playoffs, I can only say Dirk and Wade, you two have totally screwed over my bracket, as shown above. What is going on? I know Warriors are good, but didn’t expect them to be that good. They’re freaking leading the Mavs 2-1 in the series. If Mavs get eliminated in first round, we can probably see the Suns in the Finals. On the other hand, the Bulls-Heat match up has been a total joke: Bulls leading 3-0 in the series! Wade and Co. can kiss their playoff run goodbye now, unless they pull off a Boston RedSox turn around, which is almost unlikely. Defending champs, you disappoint me!
