Went to see a short demo of the latest Nintendo Wii invention – the Balance Board. It was at some atrium hall in a hotel that I have no idea where.
The first thing that occurred in my mind when seeing this is that, does the warranty cover me being too fat and breaking the board when stepping on it? I didn’t get to touch or actually stand on the demo board. But the fact that it simply looks like a flat out Wii-mote, it makes me doubt the strength of it. If I were to step on a Wii-mote, I’d be 1) very sad. 2) out 40 dollars to replace it.
Nintendo will be launching the Wii Fit game along with this new balance board. The following video is the official demo release from Nintendo.
It does seem kind of fun and exciting. Brings family interactive and gaming to a new different level. Although I do wonder why they wouldn’t invent a strap on the ankle instead of having a board. That way, you could do jumps and aerobics steps without the worry of breaking the board.
Another interesting feature is that the balance board can measure your weight and calculate your body mass index. The last thing I ever want when playing a video game is having it telling me that I’m too fat and should get out more.
