I am now officially with a California license. Except the license will arrive in about 4 weeks. So in the mean time, I have this little piece of paper acting as my primary ID.
The road test here is actually much easier than the ones in Vancouver. Just a series of left and right turn and that’s all. No driving on freeway. No backing into parking space. No 3 point turn. And most of all, not even parallel parking. All I needed to do was pull to the side and back up along the curb for 3 seconds. It’s not a wonder why it seems like almost everyone in California drives. Afterall, California is a state built for cars, if you don’t have a license or a car, it would become nearly inaccessible for you to get around anywhere. You’d become more disabled than those disabled people, since even a disable person drives when getting around.

The problem with this is, it means more poor drivers can slip through the nets making roadways a bit more dangerous. Unfortunately this raises insurance quotes from most companies to compensate for the danger. Though there are still ways of finding lower costing insurance, the overall effect remains.
